>Major topics of conversation focused on a lack of Linux developers in China and the problem of much of the driver work being done within the country never making into the mainline.

I'm curious about this especially. i know that Berry Linux, the Japanese distro, is doing some innovative things and crossing back over into Western markets, but I haven't heard much of anything coming from Linpus or Red Flag or even the Asianux effort.

Is this because little development is occurring on these projects or is there some kind of difficulty in getting the work out to the global community? Or, as is perhaps more likely, am I simply unaware of contributions from Chinese developers?
