Membership

Members enjoy many benefits including:

• First-hand knowledge of the latest developments regarding each of the Linux Foundation's projects and working groups.
• Ability to actively participate in the development of free and open source standards, including the Linux Standards Base.
• The ability to run and to vote for members of the Board of Directors, which sets the direction of the LF and approves each finished standard.
• Invitation to member-only Linux Foundation meetings where the top business and technical leaders in the Linux industry review the legal, technical, and marketing related issues facing Linux and work together to improve the Linux platform.
• The prestige and satisfaction of directly contributing to the development and advancement of Linux and Linux standards.

Classes of Membership and Affiliates

Membership rights and commitments are described in detail in the Bylaws. Financial commitments vary, according to the type and tier of membership. Fees are assessed annually. There are three membership classes:

Platinum	$500,000
Gold	$100,000
Silver	$20,000

There is one affiliate class for individuals:
