Summary of Resolutions from 2007-11-13 Open A11y Conference Call

RESOLVED: The minutes from the 30 October 2007 Open A11y call approved and made immutable.

Meeting Minutes

Topic 1: SIG Updates

JS: Expert Handlers SIG is getting grip on how to achieve what we want to achieve; liaising with natural allies; next Monday, Expert Handlers will meet with Al Gilman, chair of Protocols & Formats working group (performs the most technical engineering work in the WAI activity); if anyone wants to join that call, it is at 2pm EST (1900 UTC) Monday 26 November 2007

JS: early January plan on having a major Expert Handlers update at this, the general Open A11y meeting, with a full quorum of AT developers to ensure that we are in sync with them and they with us;

JS: Expert Handlers CSUN 2008 proposal has been accepted

scribe's note: FYI The Open Accessibility CSUN 2008 Presentation has also been accepted.

Topic 2: Testing the Keyboard Access Functional Specification

JS: Keyboard Access Functional Specification report referenced in continued action items, Gunnar?

GS: if use the same test framework EJ used to test GNOME, Olaf and I will do the same for KDE, right?

GJR: will send JS, GS and OS info behind continued action item

JS: EJ has logged bugs with GNOME; before we finalize the Keyboard Access Functional Specification, it would be very advantageous to say with confidence (and evidence) to the executive board of the Linux Foundation that it works on KDE, as well; wherever problems have been encountered, bugs have been filed; one problem is that there is not currently a maintainer for XKB technology upon which the Keyboard Functional spec depends -- it was Bill Haneman, but no one apparently stepped up and took ownership from him;

New Business

JS: one key important item: finally have a spreadsheet for all of our expectants of our NSF grant; will be finally getting that done late December/early January

Website Update

GJR: a new Reference page for ATK/AT-SPI created, as well as a ATK Test Page
